He inspired so many (me!) as he created art that elevated storytelling and goosed all the senses. His movies, art, music, his restaurants and ventures, and his meditation practice became a part of the cultural legacy of David Lynch
He elevated a cup of coffee to a spiritual practice. In 1990. Amidst the Regan/Bush era? Legend!

One day, while at the local Paul bakery picking up a favorite treat (listen, cranberry muffins are rare here and I am a Mass girl!), I looked up and found myself face-to-face with David Lynch standing across the doorway staring at me. Not creepy, like an artist, or beloved Grandpa enjoying his family. Now, I have met everyone and give zero fucks for famous people – being a journalist that’s done and seen it all does that – but some people that meant a lot on my journey are forever gonna make me giddy af. David Lynch is one of them. When our eyes locked, and he smiled at me with a warmth that said, “Thank you for letting me know how much my work has meant to you,” my heart blew open. He was better than Id imagined. (I can count on one hand the famous people that were actually amazing when I met them lol so this was Ma. Jor.) To have such an intimate moment with a legend, on a busy Rue de Buci, was everything.
As Paris has so may fabulous people he didn’t stand out, though the image of him in the doorway, enjoying watching it all, with people all around Paris beautiful streets, is etched in my heart.
It was a brief moment—just a few seconds—but is a memory I sweetly recall. This encounter with the man who created Twin Peaks (my favorite TV show) was surreal. He is even the cause of my first article ever in my school newspaper —a review of his film Crazy Heart.
His playful, conspiratorial smile, kind and knowing, felt like a gift. It was the kind of experience we cherish, a fleeting interaction that leaves an indelible mark on the heart. I’ve never shared this until now, but it remains one of my most treasured memories. David Lynch was not just a genius artist; he was a kind, humble, seeking soul who understood the profound impact he had on those who loved his work.

The Astrology of David Lynch: Aquarius and Capricorn Energy
Upon hearing of David Lynch’s passing, my first thought was, he’s got to have strong Aquarius placements. His creativity was boundary-pushing, weird, inventive, and yet deeply connected to universal Aquarian themes of love, unity, and truth: he was all about looking at the individual and their place is society, challenging us to look at how we often put these at odds in ways that harmed both. He seemingly didn’t care about fitting into anyone’s expectations, but reveled in challenging status quos. Doing so he inspired to many to do so.
LOL not the usual write up for someone with a Capricorn stellium. His Sun, Venus, and Mercury are all in Capricorn—one of the most ambitious and driven signs. This is why astrology is amazing – because he sure was a Capricorn genius business man, building so much in his 78 years in many ventures – but he was also so known by his 3rd house of Aquarius. Dude was strange!
His Sun and Venus are placed in the 3rd house, the area of communication, was in Aquarius. This positioning made him a master of unconventional communication—whether through his film’s visuals, the cryptic dialogue, amazing use of music, or the unique mood he created in each scene. This blend of Aquarius and Capricorn was a glorious mix for Lynch’s multifaceted genius to be made manifest.
This is also is a huge lesson in astrology: just because something isn’t written in a chart doesn’t mean it’s not influencing it.
