As a longtime student of Kabbalah, I find that the weekly stories and interpretations provide invaluable guidance and practical lessons for our lives. The way these insights consistently resonate feels much like astrology—amazing information that prompts deep reflection (of origins I want to know!)
This week, we delve into the portion of Noah*, that infamous flood tale. With profound insights from my teachers this week about mercy, water, and our relationship with this essential resource, I’m excited to share these lessons with you.
I recently published an article titled From Floods to Foundations, exploring the current plethora of water in our astrology (and this was before Scorpio season kicked in!). This week’s energy is particularly relevant as we transition into Scorpio, emphasizing transformation and truth. As Pluto concludes its journey in Capricorn and Mars squares Pluto, the lessons surrounding water are crucial. They are also increasing.
Lessons can increase and repeat if not learned from, and indeed get stronger so we pay attention and change. So…let’s change.
Scorpio season is a time for exploring truth and shadow, as well as our emotional world of course. Let’s do this!
The Importance of Water in Our Lives
Water, the most fundamental element for humanity, teaches us about balance and misuse. In Kabbalah there are some basic notions. One is we understand that there isn’t an external force meting out punishment or rewards; rather, our actions shape our reality. Our past deeds, whether positive or negative, come back to inform our present. This week, it’s vital to recognize our role in creating and uncreating our circumstances. We hold the key and it’s for us to use it. Noah is a cautionary tale. Will we heed it?
Generosity and sharing is the lesson of water. It’s merciful. It’s giving. It’s unconditional. How can we be more like this vital life nutrient?
Scorpio Season: A Time for Reflection
The focus on water this week aligns with the themes of Scorpio season, a time for introspection and confronting our shadows. Last week’s portion celebrated blessings and creation; now, we confront the consequences of our actions. Selfishness, greed, and gluttony manifest in our relationship with water, leading to unsustainable outcomes. An unhealthy world in our bodies and our world. What was once abundant becomes scarce due to our mismanagement.
In today’s world, we witness the harsh reality of floods and droughts, illustrating our imbalance with this precious resource. People around the world are dying from flooding and from thirst. Water, our most abundant resource has also become a prized possession and commodity due to human toxins. These ancient stories resonate more than ever, reflecting current events and urging us to act mindfully. And quickly. There is not time to hesitate.
Embracing Practical Wisdom
It’s disheartening that we must be reminded of simple truths: how we act is how we will be treated, too much of a good thing can be detrimental. We don’t need to hoard resources or indulge excessively. We don’t need more than we can carry. Fear can make us do terrible things. Scorpio season is time to face this shadow and, in doing so, turn it to light. This week serves as a reminder to share generously.
“Be like water, my friend.” – Bruce Lee
As we reflect on historical figures like the Robber Barron Vanderbilts and Carnegies, we see the cycles of boom and bust repeating. The lessons of water urge us to find equilibrium in our giving and receiving. We must think and act for others as we do for ourselves, cherishing our resources before they turn against us.
Taking Action
So, can you resist that second piece of cake? Can you consider passing up a promotion for a more deserving co-worker to get it? Can you share your financial and physical resources with those in need? These questions encourage us to embody the teachings of mercy and balance, which are especially poignant during this Scorpio season.
The lessons of Noah remind us that our responses to knowledge matter. It’s time to not just know better, but to do better. Let’s embrace these lessons and create a more compassionate world so we can live in harmony with each other and our resources.
