America is Dead; Long Live America: The Transformation Ahead

Pluto in Capricorn is in its last two weeks, signaling the completion of America’s Pluto return. Next comes America’s makeover era—think of it as ripping out the studs. Clearly actually ripping out the studs will be required. But don’t worry; it’s written in the stars. We got this. We were born for this. (And this was written before results were announced lol and ooof.)

Stunning view of Sedona’s red rock formations blanketed in fresh snow, creating an otherworldly atmosphere. Ah, the wonders of America. The amazing gifts all around we could enjoy all the time if only we didn’t have to deal with hateful, bigoted, f$&ks. Pardon my French.

The Significance of America’s Pluto Return

Pluto in Capricorn’s start 16 years ago signified America’s Pluto return, aka a big, momentous occasion in our history. Yes countries have astrology. That’s when things got really interesting and heated up and never stopped. The cracks became crevices and since then the patch jobs have only made the problems worse cuz yeah, it’s not about small changes at this point. To jog your memory there’s been: the 2008 financial crash, the election of the first Black president, the racist backlash to that, the Arab Spring, the Me Too movement, the backlash to all that, borders being called into question, how cruel we are at welcoming immigrants/refugees, how poorly we treat children and the elderly, our water resources and earth being unstable to live in due to human choices, the lack of care by people who make and sell products that poison us like tampons, breakfast cereal, etc. You guys, it’s been a time.

“The number one cause of death of pregnant women is murder.” Harvard. Capricorn rules the father.

This past 16 years of Pluto in Capricorn represents the first return in this sign since America’s founding, taking approximately 248 years. Pluto rules transformation, death and rebirth, and power. It doesn’t do “so-so” or “that’ll do”; if something isn’t built solidly, it will be destroyed. Zero fucks. Do over. While this may seem harsh, it ultimately serves our best interests, aiming for something strong, loving, real, and good for all. Something that can last. It will not put up with anything less.

Confronting America’s Unstable Foundations

Capricorn governs government, business, the father, boundaries, and limitations. Its shadow side is the patriarchy. It’s very “do as I say because I said so,” “I know better than you” which we’ve seen far too often all over the place. Capricorn wants order, a plan, and execution. It gets results from structured, sustained effort. It gives zero fucks for good intentions, what you feel, and if the dog ate your homework, because it knows you can do it and will not let you slide. That is Capricorn. So yes, these two are fun, lol, but seriously, they are much needed in our lives as both keep us on solid footing and moving along. Without these two, you can’t build something sustainable. They are the not-sexy but totally necessary things in life.

Hence this is why America faces such turmoil—its foundation was not solid. The founding figures included slaveholders who prioritized the feelings of their fellow white dudes over human rights, women were denied any rights, too. Furthermore, the indigenous peoples were slaughtered to establish the nation, creating an unfair system that serves only a few. This is the major Pluto part, an unfair system built to only serve a few. The universe is not down with that.

No such thing as coincidences and the happenings now in America prove it. How cool is it that this is mirrored in the stars? And that it is helping us make the needed changes. Of course if we do it in peace and love or not is up to us. The awareness of the issues everywhere now is to bring change. We see it everywhere. America died (not mostly dead a la Billy Crystal…dead dead) and yet because of love, for what else is grace, it is also being reborn in this moment.  It’s essential to recognize that death and rebirth are intertwined and to see the opportunity we are being given. What we see dying around us are the systems crafted by certain people to maintain their power and keep the rest of us mired in barriers. What we see dying all around us are the illusions that certain people crafted to keep them on top and the rest ignorant to the barriers against them.  What is being born is what we replace these systems with…it’s what we are writing now.

What many don’t know is how this moment was written in the stars (there’s proof!) and how we can best rise to the occasion to do the massive redo needed to make the changes that will make it a more perfect union, just as those founders say they intended (but didn’t really do cuz slaveholder appeasing, slave holding, indigenous killing and women enslaving dudes are not the best at building things. Who’d a thunk it?!)

The Age of Aquarius: A New Era of Freedom

Many are unaware that this transformative moment was written in the stars, underlined by this Pluto Return, and we can rise to the occasion to create the massive redo needed for a more perfect union.

How fascinating that these cosmic events mirror our reality! So, let’s look to the sky for guidance on what comes next…

The Age of Aquarius (2000 AD to 4000 AD) Aquarius symbolizes freedom, technology, revolution, humanitarianism, science, collective ideals, and truth. – Perrotta

From the Me Too movement to the killings of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor at the hands of law enforcement supposed to protect all, we face the uncomfortable realities of racism and sexism in a Eurocentric patriarchal society that has persisted since its inception. The violence against Black men and women continues, though we see incremental changes. Pluto does not negotiate with terrorists and incremental changes when dealing with such topics is terrorism.

As Pluto in Capricorn ends and Pluto enters Aquarius, a new era of unity and rebuilding for the benefit of all awaits us. The self-centered mentality of Capricorn (it’s shadow side which sadly we see running rampant) will give way to the Aquarian ethos of caring for everyone. Historically, Pluto in Aquarius signals revolutions and the dismantling of empires, especially in response to the unhealthy power dynamics established during Pluto’s transit through Capricorn. See history; the French Revolution, the Haitian Revolution.

Astrologer Pam Gregory has done many posts on the history and matching it with astrology, particularly noting slavery and its start and growth in the 1500s by Europe, as well as its 1700s growth in America, all Pluto in Capricorn eras. It’s in the stars, well, the unhealthy way we’ve done it is there, it certainly didn’t have to go down this way. But the shadow side wins if not attended to. The unhealthy way we’ve managed power must be addressed, as neglecting the shadow side leads to more turmoil.

This is a peak rebuke of Capricorn. Here for it.

Confronting and Undoing Systemic Inequalities

This is also occurring at a time when a significant transit from the civil rights movement of the 1960s is culminating. These civil rights issues worldwide are not an accident. I was hip to this by Tania Gabrielle, another super astute, heart-led astrologer.

Did you know that the Reagan White House had an astrologer. Queen Liz the recent one and the single one from long ago used them too. This information is being used by leaders even though they don’t want people to know it. Gallileo was an astrologer who paid the bills doing readings for the wealthy, it’s been a thing for a while. Time to unstuck limited notions and gate kept information for people to make up their own minds. Pluto in Aquarius.

Some things Pluto in Capricorn have put in spotlight:

Today, America’s borders are restricted, making it harder for Black and Brown people to enter compared to Europeans. Recent administrations have denied entry to people whose leaders or religion they disagreed with. Being open to anyone is foundational to America, yet bias persists. Enter Pluto.

Children and parents are being separated due to their ethnicity and financial status. The rights of LGBTQ individuals continue to face challenges, with laws preventing gay couples from adopting children and transgender individuals from serving in the military. Legal protections against discrimination are being repealed, making it harder for marginalized groups to advocate for their rights. Woman face death by doctor or their boyfriend/husband/date and laws don’t stop it. Kids are killed in school and nothing is done.

Voter suppression tactics, such as gerrymandering and poll taxes, continue to disenfranchise BIPOC individuals, while laws aimed at restricting women’s autonomy over their bodies persist. Basic human services, such as healthcare and guaranteed housing, remain elusive for citizens in the richest country in the world.

Our prisons have become modern slave labor camps, populated disproportionately by Black and Brown individuals. Laws are enforced differently based on appearance, and new legislation often favors European individuals. Many believe working together to hold leaders accountable is not in their best interest.

The Call for Change

So yeah, the opposite-of-a-Jedi-mind-trick that has characterized America is over. Red rover, red rover, send the right to pursue happiness and live free back over.

Now, we all know the reason abortion is in the courts is that women were property and therefore up for group discussion until—oh wait, that’s still happening. A woman is not to be legislated because… it’s not anyone else’s business. You know how nothing about men’s bodies is up for public debate, except for their penis enhancements which are fully covered by healthcare? It’s a wrap on that. Men know it, women keeping this insanity going know it. Yet we have to do it.

The reason abortion remains a contentious issue is rooted in the historical perception of women as property, leading to ongoing group discussions about their rights—an unacceptable reality. The decision of a woman is not up for public debate.

Pluto in Capricorn’s fatal flaw is this power-hungry domination thing.

Embracing the Forces of Transformation

As America stands at this pivotal moment, the forces of transformation are palpable, calling for accountability, justice, and a commitment to equality. The shadows of our past—rooted in systemic racism, oppression, and disregard for the marginalized—are being illuminated, urging us to confront uncomfortable truths and dismantle the structures that perpetuate inequality.

The journey toward a more equitable society has challenges of course, but it is rebirth and renewal. By embracing our collective power and working together, we can forge a future that honors the ideals of freedom and justice for all, ensuring that the lessons of the past propel us toward a more just and inclusive America. It is time.

It’s written in the stars…
