Let’s get into it. I saw this lettering – Bound Aries – and can’t unsee it. It’s simple and everything. And with Venus now in Pisces for the next month, where it is exalted (aka super duper happy) and Saturn (the planet of boundaries) having been in Pisces over the past year and continuing, it’s the perfect moment to reflect on boundaries. How do we feel about them? Do we have them? How do we enforce them? Why are they good for us?
Pisces is about the unseen. The mysterious. What lay behind our physical world. Boundaries are often about keeping out the unknown. Saturn is about structure, building, and the physical world. See why it’s a thing?
Saturn in Pisces is direct for a while so let’s get to using the wisdom aka finding and using our boundaries. Your quick takeaway though: Boundaries and Mercy. Boundaries. Mercy. Repeat.
Saturn in Pisces: Boundaries and Mercy
Saturn is direct in Pisces, urging us to find balance between boundaries and mercy. Saturn brings discipline and structure, while Pisces seeks escape and flow. Together, they can create tension—Saturn demands we face reality, and Pisces wants to drift away.
This transit calls us to reign in emotional flight and build grounded spirituality. It’s a time to push through emotional resistance, face hard truths, and cultivate compassion. When we balance Saturn’s cold, practical nature with Pisces’ emotional depth, we open ourselves to powerful, transformative lessons that lead to both personal growth and spiritual grounding. Both are amazing and needed.
Saturn people being cold and distant is not just emotional: Saturn is the farthest planet from earth that we can see so the distance is literal, too. (Saturn also rules Aquarius and while less harsh here, they are also emotionally distant.)
Saturn and Pisces: Finding the Balance Between Boundaries and Compassion
Saturn lives for boundaries. Pisces doesn’t know her lol. We are being asked to find the middle ground between strict boundaries and compassionate love. There is no formula. No step-by-step guide. Joan Didion once said that grammar is a note played by ear (this D5 agrees lol), so too are boundaries. Like a bad note, you know when boundaries are missing or not correct.
Key: Keep in mind that Saturn can bring on depression. So can Pisces. (That’s where they link lol they are so opposite this are alike.) So yeah, it’s a heavy time of reality and feelings so proceed with caution – or that other c word, compassion, for yourself and others.
Saturn in Pisces and Personal Boundaries
This era of Saturn in Pisces is asking us to look at our boundaries, where they are too strict, and where they are lacking. This moment encourages us to employ both our hearts and head when dealing with ourselves and others.
“Boundaries are for others, rules are for ourselves.”
Boundaries not only serve ourselves but others as well. Same with our rules, which also need a checkover. If we tell someone we can’t speak with them when they are saying hurtful things or are angry, that is a boundary that serves both us and the other person. We all get off base, and having someone point out where we aren’t acting with human dignity is a needed realignment. Even if, in the moment, it doesn’t feel that way lol. That’s what it’s there for, and why boundaries are necessary — we need time to come back to our center and act from that place. Same goes for rules. We have to employ this with ourselves.
Saturn in Pisces is asking us to look at our boundaries and adjust where needed. It’s giving us time — as Saturn is in this sign for over two years — to see where we need to change, but also to test out changes. With mercy. Pisces is very merciful, the opposite of Saturn, who is called the Lord of Karma. We get a healthy mixture to play with here, so let’s use it.
Navigating Love and Boundaries/Rules in Pisces
Pisces loves love and giving, but the downside is it can be too permissive. Someone acting like an ass can’t be allowed to continue, right? Or they can, of course, but not with us. Self-love is a thing, too (shoutout to Audre Lorde who started the Self-Love discush.) That’s why the Saturn in Pisces transit is challenging, and why there is no set guide. It requires discernment, including of ourselves. Sometimes we need to allow behavior, speak up, and say “enough.” Other times, we may need to listen and allow.
Thing is we can do it for the good (through channeling it into our creations) or the universe will put those boundaries on us (through the need for literal barriers):
“Saturn was next in Pisces from January 1494 to March 1496 as the Renaissance spread through Europe. Artists working at the time include Leonardo da Vinci, Albrecht Durer, and Hieronymus Bosch, amongst many others. There was also the first recorded outbreak of syphilis in Europe when an epidemic was spread by French troops during their invasion of Italy in 1494.” – Jessica Davidson (who has a lot of good information on Saturn in Pisces!)
The North Nodes: Shifting from Aries to Pisces — A Lesson in Boundaries and Self (Literally Bound Aries into Practice Time!)
We have been operating with the North Node in Aries and the South Node in Libra. This axis has emphasized where we lost our individuality in trying to belong. It sought to reconnect us with ourselves, first and foremost — our dreams, desires, and how we think things should be done. It wanted us to believe in ourselves and fight for our sovereignty because we deserve to be here and shine in all our unique glory.
The South Node in Libra was highlighting where we aren’t true to ourselves just to belong. It made us look at our friendships, family, and community relationships differently to see where we sacrificed ourselves, so we could reclaim that part of us. Another angle of themes similar to Saturn in Pisces, you see?
Now, with the Aries North Node leaving and heading into Pisces, that universal love will be heightened. We just have to ensure that the lessons of self we’ve learned come in the form of bound Aries. The good stays, and the rest is bound. (LOL) The South Note in Virgo will also happen, and is also notable because Virgo is a sign of discernment. In the South Node we will see where we are out of alignment with our discernment, as this place is a karma point showing behaviors to move away from and not rely on.
The Importance of Self-Awareness and Responsibility
There’s been a lot of talk and learning over the past few years, with terms like narcissist and fawning becoming normal parlance. That’s helpful of course, but using it to manipulate others and not take personal responsibility is not it. Funny how we can always spot others’ unhealthy actions lol, but what about our own? It’s a time to focus on what we can change about ourselves and do that. Lead by example.
Using Mercury and Venus to Balance Boundaries
Listen, it’s not easy. But in this time, we can say, “Oof, I was too harsh.” Or, “Why am I being this way and demanding others act like X so I can be around them?” Does it serve me? Have I gotten too set in my ways, and does it serve me? Or we can say, “Wow, I’m just not getting my needs met and need to change. I need to communicate better with others about what I want.” Maybe you need to find out what you want. We have choices, and this moment allows us to see this and adjust.
Venus in Pisces: Let Love Flow
Venus is in Pisces from January 2 until February 4, allowing us to let love flow as it helps us to want to do so. Mercy, too. It’s needed medicine for ourselves and for dealing with others, right? With the U.S. presidential handover happening, let’s use it to come from love (yes, especially with fools lol). We get peace in our world with how we deal with others we don’t like, correct? Saturn in Pisces can help us use our backbone and words to serve all, with firmness and love.
Building Love and Mercy with Saturn in Pisces
In Pisces, Venus — planet of love, beauty, and money — is happy. Let’s use this time of heightened emotions and intuition to be boldly loving, and sharing, and deal with others from a place of higher love. Pisces is a sign of mercy. It allows us to employ that in Saturn, and with Venus joining, an overflow of love is possible. Let’s have mercy and forgive ourselves and others, and build the better world we want. With Pluto in Aquarius, this universal love is emphasized. Jupiter (expansion) in Gemini is about the twins, duality. We can do much good now.
Bounding Our Aries
No fighting! No “me, me, me!” No fighting first, talking later! No rash, impulsive, shooting from the hip before we inquire. No fighting.
We just have to bound our Aries and all that Pisces love and Saturn healthy boundaries and rules will be made clear. Restrict our instinct to yell or shrink (which ever applies) and try new ways of being.
Embracing Boundaries: Navigating the Shift from Aries to Pisces
As we move through Saturn’s time in Pisces, and other placements highlighting similar themes, it’s an ideal moment to reflect on the boundaries we’ve set for ourselves and others. This powerful cosmic alignment invites us to embrace self-love while also asserting the strength needed to protect our energy. With the North Node shifting from Aries to Pisces, the lessons of individuality and sovereignty continue to play out, guiding us toward healthier, more balanced relationships with both ourselves and the world around us. By finding the sweet spot between firmness and compassion, we can emerge from this period stronger and more aligned with our true selves. Remember: boundaries are not walls; they are the pathways to deeper connection and personal empowerment. Trust your instincts, honor your space, and move forward with confidence.
