Pluto in Capricorn: Transforming Our Structures, Standards, and Material World Values

Individual Power vs. Top-Down Power

In this transformative period, we explore the clash between individual power and top-down power. As we observe the current dynamics – just read a newspapers and look at your own life – this theme becomes increasingly relevant. Our sovereignty versus the state. It doesn’t have to be at odds, remember, but unhealthy boundaries create these problems.

This Pluto in Capricorn era ushered in a noodle from Alaska being tapped for Vice President via the Republican candidate (AKA establishment AKA European, patriarchal party) – a candidate who vehemently fought a Martin Luther King Jr. Day for a long, long, long time. There was also the financial crisis in 2008 (money and power are prime Capricorn issues) which ushered in the first Black U.S. President. A man whose V.P. was alarmingly offensive to Anita Hill when he questioned her as she came forward to share the harassment she suffered by then Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas. Soon after the Arab Spring started and Pluto in Capricorns leading theme of power and ruling classes wanting to dominate over individual peoples sovereign rights would spread around the world and definitely the U.S. Trayvon Martin. Me Too. George Floyd. Covid. Women, Life, Freedom.

How did Pluto in Capricorn go? Well…. around the world we started with Arab Spring and it’s just kinda gone from there. Oh, there was the financial crisis as well that started it off. So yeah, peak Capricorn power and money issues. As for how it wrapped up, well, we just had the results of the U.S. election, with the winner being a man convicted of crimes against women, and the crimes against the state are still in process, and those against humanity also ongoing. It was an election whose results are highly suspect (mirroring the last time he won ffs). This election took place in a year that saw more elections around the world, than ever in the history of humans.

This is the biggest election year in human history. Half of the world’s population – some 3.7 billion people – will have the opportunity to go to the polls in 72 countries. Many will be voting for the first time. From South Africa to the South Pacific, to Europe and the Americas, the stakes are immense. – UNDP

Yeah, so no it hasn’t gone well. But also it has. We can’t pretend the power games aren’t afoot. Teeing up a perfect Pluto in Aquarius (revolution! power to the people! unity! all for one and one for all!)

But first, let’s look at where we have been and learned.

The Finale of Pluto in Capricorn

With the end of Pluto in Capricorn, we are witnessing a profound clarification of issues. Power struggles are evident everywhere, and many are still clinging to control. This tension highlights the concept of inner sovereign authority versus outer authority.

Can’t you see how on point this is? Of course, this plays out in our world of politics and business, but also in our personal lives. Look around; this is the battle we face. Will you choose to do what you believe is right, or will you conform to your community’s norms and avoid rocking the boat? Will you stand up against state authority – or your big company, or your small company – and be for what is best for you and your fellow humans. Ooof.

A Paradigm-Shattering Time

As Pam Gregory notes, we are in a paradigm-shattering time. I whole heartedly agree. Just look around; this seems to be the prevalent theme. Enter Pluto in Aquarius…

First and foremost, we don’t operate from a place of fear or future predicting around here. Instead, we examine the planets and our charts to understand our lessons and experiences, enabling us to harness the best of these signs to transform ourselves and, in turn, change our world. Easy peasy, right? This is why analyzing this profound planetary shift is so crucial: it delves into our deep-rooted issues which align with the times. It all goes together.

How Pluto in Capricorn Plays Out for Capricorns and Capricorn Placements (Yes, This Means Us All)

If you are a Capricorn, your life has undergone significant evolution over the past 18ish years. The foundation of who you are has been in a state of re-evaluation. Kabbalah teaches that Pluto signifies our soul. My friends, you Caps have truly been through it. Not only does your life appear different, but more importantly, you are different. Hopefully, this transformation has lead you to become a more joyful, open-hearted person, trusting more in the unseen forces of this world that are, after all, the building blocks of everything. (Let’s be real: you guys are an earth sign and the builders of the zodiac, so you can take direction when you see the benefits. This period was to help you become less physical, and therefore, more abundant.)

For those of us with Capricorn placements in our charts, this signifies where we have faced significant challenges. For example, if Capricorn resides in your relationship house, you’ve likely undergone a major overhaul in who you partner with, as well as how and why. Are you solely focused on material wealth and empire building? What is the foundation of your relationships?

Capricorn is all about manifestation, so you are probably evolving in ways that lead to more fulfilling and lasting structures in your interactions – both for yourself and your partners. This applies whether it’s about your work, health, or finances.

The Broader Implications of Capricorn and Pluto

Now that we have that foundational understanding, let’s explore the broader implications of Capricorn and Pluto in relation to our government systems, business, and the patriarchy. Cuz that’s where it gets real. This is the major headline across the globe today, isn’t it? From the autocratic leader rumored to become the U.S. President to Putin and the Chinese leadership, to North Korea, Venezuela, and Argentina, it’s hard to find a country that is led by love, unity, and where all people thrive together with nature. (Hi, Bhutan: we see you!)

We are clearly off track. The shadow side has wreaked havoc on our world. I was recently watching Yellowstone, an entertaining show to be sure, but it also reflects stereotypes of power, masculinity, and what it means to be American. Whiteness and a badge means crimes are committed with impunity. We all know our society is not a more perfect union at all, that we are not living rightly. Change must come. Pluto in Cap has highlighted the issues.

Enter Pluto in Aquarius

Enter Pluto in Aquarius. It’s a time for power to the people and (r)evolution. With Neptune about to enter Aries, we’re in for a whirlwind of fire and air. And Uranus going into Gemini. Winds of change are undeniably upon us.

But have we each learned our lessons? Let’s review (this Sag season with all the retrogrades is asking just that! See how it all works together 🙂

European Kings and Queens Facing Public Backlash

What we are witnessing in leadership reflects the worst aspects of Capricorn clinging to power. Leaders indifferent to how their systems and structures harm people and the planet, as long as they accumulate wealth.

Consider some recent headlines that are simply astounding. The Spanish Royals faced public backlash as they appeared to show fake support following devastating natural disasters. How can we know their PR stunt was genuine? Their presence obstructed essential streets and services from reaching those in need.

It was the epitome of “let them eat cake.” Honestly, they were fortunate it wasn’t rocks.

Did they grasp the point? It doesn’t seem so.

This situation is further complicated by the last King of Spain, who is not deceased, which is usually how monarchy succession works. He stepped down due to numerous inappropriate uses of funds, abuse of power, and a failure to lead the people with their best interests at heart. He was a true randy Andy, but in this context, his leadership involved mishandling funds and exploiting the people’s resources.

They continue to put on a show, which is exactly what Pluto in Aquarius aims to dismantle. This is not how we should live together, with some individuals amassing wealth while others suffer. Oof.

The Consequences of a Flawed System

We also see the case of Dominique in France, where rape and assault against women are tragically normalized practices by men in suburbs daily, akin to an off-track betting pool.

Pluto’s Unyielding Influence

Pluto doesn’t play. In Capricorn, it has been targeting our flawed structures, businesses, management, systems, rules, and foundations. It’s about to demolish anything that isn’t strong. It’s not just a matter of “flow or get pulled”; it’s “flow or be steamrolled.”

A New Era of Empowerment: Lessons from Pluto in Capricorn

As we stand on the precipice of this significant planetary transition, it’s crucial to recognize that Pluto in Capricorn has illuminated the deep-rooted structures and systems that govern our lives. This period challenges us to confront the uncomfortable truths about power, authority, and our own personal values. The lessons we learn now will not only shape our individual journeys but also contribute to the collective evolution of society. By embracing the transformative energy of Pluto and remaining open to change, we can pave the way for a more equitable and compassionate future. Let us harness this opportunity to redefine our relationships with power and create lasting, positive change in our lives and the world around us.
