We The People: 2024 Was the Biggest Election Year in Human History (and Why This Matters)

Pluto in Aquarius is Here to Change the World. Capricorn season, ruling government, structure, and boundaries means we can build it.

The Pluto in Aquarius era is here to make changes to how the people of We the People are living. And I’m not just talking about the U.S. — I mean all the people. Remember, borders are arbitrary, and we are all in this together. This is a time of global change, and the world is waking up to the realities of how we’re governed. LEt’s use this Capricorn season, with its power over patriarchy and government, to build the world we want (and work on our own internal issues with power dynamics and control.)

“Around half the world’s population lives in more than 70 countries holding national elections in 2024, and with roughly two billion eligible voters, this is being described as the largest election year in history.” – Statista

Capricorn Season: Government and Global Power Struggles

In the month of Capricorn, we’re reminded that while global issues feel overwhelming (except maybe in Bhutan), there’s hope in numbers. We, the people, outnumber those in power. The challenge is that they use Capricornian traits to control us: materialism, greed, power-tripping, god complexes, and a desire for dominance. These are the obstacles we must overcome if we want to reshape the way the world is governed.

Remember, governments are made up of people’s choices. That’s it. An entity is not a thing. It’s people’s actions that bring it to life. People are the key to it changing. Capricorns are all about power over people to get their goal: hence the power in this month and what we have to watch and direct. Are we for the people or ourselves. Pluto doesn’t play, and in Aquarius its for the people so chose wisely.

2024 Solidified One Thing: Global Leadership Failures

2024 confirmed a hard truth: leadership across the world, from the U.S. to Europe to the Middle East, isn’t truly reflecting the will of the people. Governments are failing to serve their citizens, often prioritizing the interests of wealthy elites over the needs of the majority. Whether it’s the French farmers protesting capitalist policies, British citizens fighting for better healthcare, or Israeli citizens protesting government policies, we are witnessing a global reckoning that transcends borders.

It was a thing you guys. And they took the protest to the fancy areas too. This was around the corner on Boulevard Saint Germain. One of the most instagrammed cafes was just a few steps away lol.
It was a thing you guys. And they took the protest to the fancy areas, too. This was around the corner on Boulevard Saint Germain. One of the most instagrammed cafes was just a few steps away lol. The French give zero fucks – and their protests get stuff done. Well, I mean the leaders still enacted the pension policy they were fighting here, but the French Revolution energy remains. They stay ready here. ‘If they didn’t start nothing wouldn’t be nothing,’ is very much the French people’s take (yet they also always find something to complain about so yes, two things can be true lol.)

Countries Where People Can’t Protest

Let’s also acknowledge the places where protesting comes at a deadly cost. In countries like Saudi Arabia, Belarus, Iran, Russia, China, Cuba, and more, the government kill you for speaking out against it, which is to say the people in charge. But even in these repressive regimes, brave individuals continue to resist. Their courage reminds us of a powerful truth:

“If you are free, you need to free somebody else. If you have some power, then your job is to empower somebody else.” – Toni Morrison, Aquarian legend

The Global Struggle: How the Internet Connects Us

With the rise of social media, it’s clearer than ever that the struggles of the people are global. The issues may look different depending on where you live, but the need for accountability and change is universal. In 2024, more people voted than ever before. The election year was marked by heightened emotions, fueled by fear and propaganda foisted on us by the monied media owners who gain from chaos and division. In France, citizens came together to vote out hate and fascism, with many putting aside their personal ambitions for greater good. Now that’s what’s up.

In the U.S., however, the election results showed that we did not vote out the forces of hate and division, so our work is clear. South Korean’s citizens showed us all how it’s done with their robust and fast resistance to government control. Working together is what’s up.

With technology we are able to see that our struggles are similar, even if unequal in severity. We have the same battle against tyrants, against greed and control. “Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose,” as the saying goes. (The more things change the more they stay the same.)

Current Global Crises: War, Oppression, and Silence

The global stage is full of crises: Putin’s war against Ukraine and its neighbors, women in Iran fighting for freedom, and the isolated people of North Korea, cut off from the world. We’ve allowed these situations to persist. And it’s not just the leaders who are keeping these systems in place — it’s the complicity of thousands. The world can do better, but we need to change the way we engage with our leaders and our systems.

The U.S. Struggles: Broken Systems and Unmet Needs

The U.S. has its own set of problems. The healthcare industry is a disaster. The financial system is built on shaky foundations. And those charged with protecting us — teachers, police, and politicians — are not properly vetted or held accountable. The system is failing. We have vacant buildings, homelessness, unsafe food, and unsafe products in our homes. Who is protecting us? Certainly not the agencies that are supposed to safeguard our society.

This year served as a wake-up call. The red alert is sounding.

Individuals Are the Answer: How We Can Change the System

Ultimately, the solution is individuals. Change starts with us. Governments are made up of people, and people make decisions that shape the world. We can change things — and we must. It’s time to focus on building systems that serve the people, not control them.

The U.S. likes to market itself as the land of the free, but in many ways, it is far from it. Political parties like the Republicans and Democrats may talk about freedom, but their actions don’t always align with the true spirit of liberty. The GOP is pushing to control personal freedoms, from what women can do with their bodies to who people can love and marry. The Democrats, too, are not pushing for the changes necessary to dismantle the systems of control.

Let’s Take Action: Building a System That Works for All

As individuals, we can demand better. It’s time to build a system that prioritizes equity, justice, and accountability. We have the power to change things, and this 2024 election year is proof that when the people speak, it can make a difference. But we need to keep pushing, keep protesting, and keep demanding better from our governments.
