If you have never heard of the Tucson Gem Show, the world’s largest gem and mineral event, you are missing one of the most unique and fascinating gatherings in America. It’s only the world’s largest gem and mineral gathering where earth’s rarest treasures, global dealers, and serious collectors collide.

It’s like a music festival except for gems and minerals, and it lasts for weeks each year. You guys!
As it happens every year in Aquarius season, the Gem Show could NOT be more on brand for Aquarius as this event it peak all things water bearer sign lol.
The 2026 show is starting this weekend (and also already underway), so here is your ultimate overview to the show and Tuscon during this wonderful annual event.
What Is the Tucson Gem Show and Why Is It So Special?
I’m sorry, you’re telling me that people come together from all around the world to celebrate the very rocks and elements that make up our gorgeous globe. And you didn’t know about it? Well, let me change that.
It’s like the best nerd fest I’d never heard of until recently. The Tucson Gem Show, held from the end of January through the first two weeks of February, is the world’s largest and oldest gem show, both in size and attendance. It’s celebrating 71 years this year.
“The Tuscon Gem Show“ as its referred to, is actually like 40 shows, hundreds of tents, and around 50,000 people attending. It features converted hotels and motels used as event spaces for wholesale sellers and small businesses from all over the globe.
So now you get why I say it’s like a music fest only for gems and art lol.
It is the best of America. Sincerely.
Is it the best of the world? Cuz everyone coming together to be in awe of what earth produced is awesome. And while it is for wholesalers, it’s also for regular folks like you and me, too. (Deals are to be had!)
As is a theme around here, Arizona is more than you think. Don’t believe Bad PR about places, Phoenix is the 5th largest city in America and Tucson has grown as well, though thankfully still retains its charm. Arizona has a lot going on and this world’s best show is an example of that.

What You Will Find Beyond Gems and Jewelry
It’s not totally hippy dippy, though there is that. And it’s also not just capitalism, since it is a market to buy and sell goods but it feels different, what with people connecting with people and long term partners being found and made. As it’s about natural goods and wisdom, and people here often value something more than money. Selling is trading, after all. And it’s not just jewelry. It’s also got art, clothes, furniture, and more.
To know that people gather to sell stones and gems, and even petrified wood made into furniture, and art, and that it goes on for weeks and has for decades, and gathers people from all over the globe is just awesome. Yes, there are so many amazing events in our world and this is one of them.

What the Tucson Gem Show Feels Like as an Experience
Overwhelming? Sure, could be. With so much to see, and it’s all over the city, really, it’s the kind of place you need to have a plan and or be open to exploring. You won’t see it all, like wayyyy too much, but you will come away with not only some great purchases, but a connection with people from all over the world that will elevate your spirit as it informs.
It has the kind of feel of a fair, so there is variety and community all around. It’s awesome like that.
When Is the Tucson Gem Show 2026? Key Dates to Know
When is it? OK, basically it’s from January 28 to February 15, 2026. However, shows and sellers start in mid January.
The 71st Annual Tucson Gem and Mineral Show®, where it gets its name, happens at the end, February 12 to 15, 2026. Confused lol? That’s kinda very Tucson Gem Show.
That it’s all kinda like this is very Tucson Gem Show lol. People come and go from the various tents and event spaces, as basically it’s many gem shows in the span of the month. And indeed, the African Village, AMAZING, shows that it’s morphed into more than just gems and stones. It really is a cultural event that is, yes, mostly stones, but not all.
Where Is the Tucson Gem Show Located? Main Areas and Venues
Basically, it’s all around the Convention Center, so downtown. But when I say all around, I do mean it’s miles in many directions too. The area around the convention center has many shows, like the Pueblo Gem Show and JOGS. These are the ones I know best. However, there is also the Holidome and more. If you Google the gem show, you will realize how many spaces there are and how much you can explore wherever you go.

Tucson Gem Show Cost: Tickets, Free Shows, and Wholesale Access
This is the thing, some shows do have an entry fee, but some don’t. The Tucson Gem and Mineral Show has a $15 daily fee, but shows like Pueblo let you just wander around a converted motel space and enjoy, remember I said it’s like a fair lol. Other spaces are not fee based, but are not just open to the public to wander in and out. It’s a space that people have to be invited to visit or have a contact inside. Think a private showroom. It is a wholesale event too, not just stores for the public, so that makes sense, right? Holidome is like this.
How to Plan Your Trip to the Tucson Gem Show
How to do it. If you want to explore it, leave at least a few days. You want time to wander some spaces that you research before, and also some that you will find from talking to people at the spaces. You also want time to eat, rest, and enjoy Tucson, and with a few days you can do this.
I mean, if you are a jewels and gem fanatic, this is your Super Bowl, so go for a week lol. You still won’t see it all, but you will be able to go to various spaces and experience the variety while also connecting with people, which is the point.

Where to Stay in Tucson During the Gem Show
Book a hotel downtown, in advance, but every year is different in terms of pricing, so you’ll see, or a home rental service. We aren’t using brand names anymore cuz no more free ads and they gotta pay their employees better lol.
Do You Need a Car in Tucson for the Gem Show?
You don’t need a car. There is public transport and taxi type services, but as it’s an event with thousands in town, having your own car is also useful. Tucson is only a 1.5 hour drive from Phoenix as well, so maybe visit there too, as there’s lots to do and see.
Things to Do Near Tucson During the Gem Show
It is a driving city and easy to navigate. With lots to see, Saguaro National Park, Tubac, Bisbee nearby – read about my travel here – and Tombstone, it makes a great launching point to explore Southern Arizona. See my articles here.

Best Places to Eat, Local Spots in Tucson During the Gem Show
There is so much good food here, cute cafes, amazing restaurants, and shops, so that is another plus. There is also the amazing Saguaro National Park nearby so do enjoy that (it’s a wow!)
Below are some of my fav spots I’ve found, but share your finds below, too.
Coronet Café. Are you kidding me with the charm and good coffee and also store to buy local goods?
Sauce. A local chain in AZ with good pizza in a jam, lol you know me, soups and salads, my mom loves ’em.
El Charro. Beyond amazing Mexican spot that’s been around since 1922. The corn tamale was beyond delish.
The Mercado. An area with a few different restaurants and cafes to enjoy. I’ve been to several places and all very good, including a vegan spot.
Frost Gelato. Somehow it’s always closest to me, so I go, and it’s delish.
Blue Ice Gelato. When I’m not near a Frost lol, so good.
Sweet Tomatoes. IYKYK. The only location to reopen after all closed. Soooo good!
Marvelous Vintage Tucson. Great jeans and a curated selection of goods.
Classic Rock Couture. Went to the Bisbee location and, well, we love a woman owned brand of cool stuff.
My Personal Tucson Gem Show Highlights
My Gem Show Pic: The Pueblo Market, as it’s easy to navigate and nice people, shoutout to Chasing Gems, we love Italians! There were raw stones, jewelers, and all different types, so it’s a great overview.
My Gem Show Special Note: The African Village. Beyond. Artists, clothing designers, bags, hats, natural shea butter, and more. What these artisans do with fabrics and materials from around the world is inspiring af. Last year they were setting up for a concert I was bummed I had to miss.
Why the Tucson Gem Show Is Really About People and the Earth
There are fine jewels and raw stones and everything in between. But most importantly, there are wonderful people from all over the US and the world, selling stones and connecting around our primary resources, the earth and each other. Enjoy.
